Wowhead?

Patch 3.3.0

EDIT 6:51 PM - Wow, Wowhead's fast. I Tweeted at them and they replied less than a minute later. They fixed it!

I had to disable Wowhead's item-hover script in my blog because it was suddenly causing a strange error anytime someone visits or refreshes the page. I noticed right away that they changed the script code, so I thought that updating that would fix it.. but it didn't. The error is quite annoying: it prompts the browser to pop open a login message for "anadept.dev.wowhead.com"... I have no clue what that means, though I hope to find out soon. Although I haven't used Wowhead's item hover function in quite a few posts, I'd like to know that it still works when I do feel like linking an item =/...

Here's to figuring out what randomly went wrong..

Ninja Raiders on WoW Insider!!!!111

Patch 3.3.0
Wow, I don't know how @roninhobbit finds these juicy little things so quickly, but he just @replied me on Twitter with a link to the Movie Watcher plug of Ninja Raiders on WoW Insider!!! So, exciting! Disani, come look!

Holiday Break

Patch 3.3.0
The holidays are here, yet I haven't figured out how to juggle everything on the to-do list! I've got a song to record, a rather large personal project to complete by late January,  and having friends and family over pretty much every weekend 'til Christmas... Aaah! I still have this awful cough; the cold appears to be gone, and I don't feel shitty anymore, but the cough makes recording any vocals a huge pain! So, I don't expect to be starting my new song until the cough is manageable. Gah! I have lyrics all written out and begging to be recorded, but it will have to wait. I think the cold has made the decision for me that the new song will have to take less priority than the other personal stuff I need to get done. ^_^ Maybe that cold was a good thing.

The personal project (deadline coming way too fast) is my other favorite hobby than WoW, costume building. This is really what's been tearing me away from WoW and pretty much everything at the moment. I won't go into too much detail about it, but basically, I build animal mascot costumes, a.k.a. fursuits. I have a personal fictional character, or fursona ^_^, yes I'm a furry (hurr hurr.. moving right along...), and I'm building a costume based on her. (For more info about my costume hobby/business, please visit: http://www.blackbackstudio.com and/or follow @blackbackstudio on Twitter.) If you follow my personal Twitter @emberisolte, you might see some tweets about my "head" from time to time... I'm really talking about the costume head, F.Y.I. lol.

So,  I've got my hands full until February. With that said, I may be back to blog when I can steal the time, but 'til next time I'd like to wish you all the most Happy of Holidays. Cheers!

Patch Day

Patch 3.3.0

Today is "Server's Splode Day"! I tried to log in 3 times this past hour and as soon as I think my character selection screen is gonna load, I get the "Disconnected from server" message. =) A lot of people are excited (including me) about the free pet you get if you use a Blizzard Authenticator with your Battle.net account. I've been trying to just log in and get it, but.. yeah, it's patch day.

From Blizzard poster Nethaera
The Core Hound Pup is a gift for anyone using an authenticator (attached to an account) whether it's the physical authenticator or the mobile authenticator. Anyone who attaches an authenticator will also receive this lovable new pet. Think of it as your own personal guard dog.
There's some buzz about new tauren skins on WoW.com. But to give you the gist Handclaw of the Scrollsoflore.com forums posted images and rumors are being born. There's no official word on what the skins are for, so there's tons of speculation. I'm personally sticking with the "they're just new Grimtotem skins" theory since I don't think that Blizz would add those customizable skins to the 3.3 patch unless they had more custom skins for other races. But who knows? Plus, I heard that Blizzard is planning on doing a revamp of ALL character models, so I'd assume that the skins need to be reworked/remapped for those, and that will be released much closer to Cataclysm. The tauren skins do look pretty neat though ^_^.

It's cold.

Patch 3.2.2

I would be recording a new song right now if it weren't for this damned cold. A few days ago, it felt like this thing was gonna pass quickly. I got the aches, the sore throat, and right to the coughing in a day. And now I'm going on the third day of this coughing crap. I can barely speak without coughing up a lung. *sigh* Sucrets® to the rescue.. bleh, these things taste so sick but they work like a dream for hours for me.

Anyway, I just ask that you wish me well, and I'll keep drinking lots of fluids and resting so that I do kick this cold soon. Thanks for the support.

Ninja Raiders Video Premier!

Patch 3.2.2

Thanks to my now partner in YouTube crime, Disani, of Raven.Sylphe Productions, Ninja Raiders has a video!! I'm posting the video on from YouTube page, so go check her out! (I'll have it up on my channel as soon as I get my hands on a copy of the video.) Hope you enjoy it as much as Disani and I do!!

"Guild Meeting" and New Friends!

Patch 3.2.2

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving! Whew, what a busy weekend. Time to wind back up and get back in the grind of things. Hope your Thanksgiving was as enjoyable as ours!

One notable event this weekend was our "Guild Meeting". It wasn't really a guild meeting, it was really just us hanging out at my place, nothing official. lol. ^^ So, most members of my tiny li'l guild are local and Nuku and I invited everyone over for a second Thanksgiving of sorts. We made a turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes.. it was our first Thanksgiving as hosts, so that was a bit nerve wracking, but in the end everything turned out better than I had expected!

It was so nice to finally meet Lucrene (Jadella in my guild) and her man, Peppovitch! I was so afraid that we'd find out that we only would make good vent buddies, but I am very happy to say that I think we clicked. ^_^ *hopes Miss Mojo feels the same* I can't wait 'til we hang out again.

Another "event" was that it was my birthday on Saturday. We hosted the "guild meet" on Saturday too, I just never told anyone it was my birthday cuz I didn't want ppl to feel obligated to come over or bring anything. *feels sneaky*

In other news, I'm considering this my second favorite birthday present this year (first being the 20" LCD Nuku got me..) and although the gift isn't a gift, and the person it's from had no idea it was my birthday, I'm still considering it an awesome "gift"!! So, Raven.Sylph.G, a very talented, up and coming Machinima Producer, has decided to make a music video for my cover of Ryan's Ninja Raiders, and she sent me a work in progress clip! I'll be sure to post the link to the finished video when she's worked her magic! And if you haven't seen her work before, definitely check out her YouTube page: Raven.Sylphe Productions!

That's it for now so, thanks for stopping by! And please, if you have a blogger or an OpenID, don't be shy, leave a comment!

It's a Small World of Warcraft

Patch 3.2.2

My husband just found out that our neighbors in the apartment below us play WoW too. =) They play horde, though, we didn't ask what server they're on. I always find it amusing when you run into another person who plays the game, the first question that gets answered regardless of whether or not someone asked is, "What faction do you play?" And only if they play the same faction as you, does the conversation ever get to "What server are you on?" Hehe.

My Guild's Website

Patch 3.2.2

Well, I couldn't sleep last night. I thought about playing WoW, but server reset was happening this morning. It's funny how I always seem to want to pull an all-nighter on Monday nights. Oh well, I still got my WoW fix by updating my guild's website a little bit. I made a guild "logo" so to speak. I may change it a bit later, make it more 'alliancey' perhaps(?), but for now I think its sexy enough to put up.

And please go here to see the logo in place with the pretty background^^. But, now that I actually think about it, I realize that I really didn't do anything WoW related last night at all. I mainly just made a guild logo and edited some CSS.

I use Guildomatic.com to host our guild site, and although it's really easy to use and quick to set up, I find their default styles needing... refinement. (Too much padding in this table cell, not enough definition between divs, etc...) So, I chose the "(WoW) Battalion" theme to work with as a template, since it's got the look and feel closest to how I want our site to look and feel. ^^ I'm just editing the CSS based on that particular theme's stylesheet where I see a tweekin' needed. And if you don't know how much of a NotePad/TextEdit-raw-html-css nerd I am, consider yourself informed. Oh and also: our guild name has nothing to do with that Stephanie Meyers' Twilight Series Saga or whatever. (It is, however, 100% Midori Snyder's New Moon, my favorite novel/trilogy.)

Saturday, November 14, 2009

Last night, Nuku randomly went raptor hunting and got me a [Razormaw Hatchling] and a [Darting Hatchling] ^^.

They're so cute!

Growing the Guild

Patch 3.2.2

Nuku and I ran into a couple hordies who were messing around in Stormwind last week, and Nuku decided to hop on a low level horde toon of his own to see if they wanted to join us on ventrilo. Only the priest joined us, but it was pretty cool because we ended up having so much fun I think it helped them in making the decision to finally faction change over to Alliance. =) So, I'm really happy to have Mierdal and Zeonn in New Moon. Welcome, guys. ^^

New Gear and The Guild!

Patch 3.2.2

Nuku bought me a [Li'l K.T.] earlier today, just thought I'd mention that b4 I forget. Here's the link to get your very own Kel'thuzad or Pandaren Monk, AND donate to charity to boot! Blizzard Store

So anyway, I got new gear yesterday. I'm not a gear whore or anything, cuz I don't like raiding a whole lot, but I like posting my new stuff just so you know I'm still alive... in-game that is =). I've been mainly helping my friends level when I'm on, I do my cooking/JC dailies, and try to do the heroic daily and that's about it.  (On a li'l sidenote about raiding: the only thing I never liked about raiding was how much time of my day it took, but that's mainly because when I raided, it was always late at night... but maybe if New Moon grows and we have enough people to do some 10-mans, I'd be glad to. Especially because I know and get along with everyone in my guild so far.) =)

So, the heroic daily put me at 46 [Emblems of Triumph]! And I got this: [Epaulets of the Devourer]. Yay to no more ugly ass Tier 7 shoulders. Then we ran a heroic ToC and I got this: [Aledar's Battlestar] to replace my off-hand ([The Stray]).

I put +hit gems in both since I'm sure I'm not yet hit caped and I can't remember for the life of me what my hit cap should be unbuffed.. I think its 17% or is that too high? Anyway, I'm not too worried about it atm, but when DarksparklesMangoTaursparkles, and Jadella get closer to 80, I'll start thinking about it.

Oh, and The Guild! Here's the last 2 episodes! Sorry for not keeping up with them as fast as they post 'em. If I'm too slow for ya, follow @theguild on Twitter or just search "The Guild" on MSN Mondays at Midnight (PST).

SEASON 3, EPISODE 8

SEASON 3, EPISODE 9

I love getting harassed by lvl ONEs!

Patch 3.2.2

I find it very amusing when lvl 80s hop on a low level alt and start talking shit. Just yesterday, some lvl 1 priest whispered me and asked why I didn't attack a horde DK in SW. Instead of putting him on ignore like I should have, I explained the situation since I thought it was funny and unique in that I was on vent with said horde DK ^^. Which was a fun story on its own, but maybe more on that later if I remember.

Anyway, to sum things up, lvl 1 priest makes fun of my gear (to which I honestly don't care), saying, "Oh that DK was probably a lvl 70 or something," and he proceeds to call me, and I quote, "shicken shit". So, I ask him who's the chicken, afraid of revealing his main's identity. He continues to explain that he has "8 lvl 80's..." and he mocks WoW in general, which is really funny, because if people despise the game so goddamned much, WHY do they keep playing?! RoFL.

So, this guy hops on his main and starts speaking in "say", saying things like, "Isolte, I heard you're married, right? And you put your husband in the hospital for driving him insane... Everyone put Isolte on their ignore lists..." blah, blah, blah.. I'm a little weirded out at the fact that he even knew I'm female and he was trying to personally offend me, but I just kept thinking, "If I say anything at all, it will only egg him on." So, I just decided to ignore him. Not the put-him-on-my-ignore-list kind of ignore, cuz I hate thinking that I seem oblivious when ppl try to send me tells, even if he/she is a complete fucking douchbag, but I just went off to a different area to do my own thing.

Oh yeah, and the funny thing about this too was that the guy's main is in Massacre, my old guild, lol. So, Nuku told his cousin, a high ranking officer in Massacre, about this dumbass, and Nuku's cousin assured us that if I was bothered again, he'd surely threaten Mr. Douche. Which was kinda nice since the guy was a dickhead who only cares about raiding and getting better gear, so there was potential of him having to look for a new guild... But he stopped bugging me very shortly after that. I don't know if Nuku's cousin actually said anything to him, but in the end it didn't really matter.

But seriously, why do people that "hate WoW" keep playing the game if it's "sooo lame"? The only answer I can see clearly is that those people still play so they can terrorize other players, lol. ^^

*Needs Motivation*

Patch 3.2.2

I think it's about time I started working on a new song. I think I'll get some ideas down and throw them out to the YouTube crowd to see what they think.

The Instance plays a clip from Ninja Raiders

Patch 3.2.2

The Instance Podcast (http://www.myextralife.com/wow/) did a whole segment today on WoW songs, and although they didn't say anything specifically about my Ninja Raiders collab with Ryan Myers, they did play a clip from it at the end of the whole podcast ("We Swim at the Hallow End of the Pool" Oct. 26, 2009 at1:46:23.) Thanks for the heads up, Ryan!

It comes in waves...

Patch 3.2.2

I got a chance to log in for a bit last night and just helped out leveling a real life friend. He got from lvl 55 to 58. We're gonna help him finish out some Stratholme quests before making him go to Outland. I like that about him, he's the type of player who likes to finish quest chains for the lore. And I don't want to rush him. A lot of our friends are moving over (or just starting new toons) on our server in preparation for Cataclysm. ^^ I'm really happy about that.

Speaking of Cataclysm, I wonder if we, as Worgen, be able to change our hair color the way Taurens get to. =) I haven't been keeping up with WoW related crap since Brewfest but I'm getting back into the swing of things. I was just recently introduced to a WoW podcast and blog called "The Instance", so I'm looking forward to listening to that. And maybe they may even play my cover of "Ninja Raiders" since Roninhobbit was so kind as to submit it to them. They played his version on a previous podcast, so I hope they consider playing mine ^^.

WOOT is really an acronym for...

Patch 3.2.2

...Want One Of Those. Or at least that's what I learned regarding the origins of the phrase. Lots of people say it started with D&D as a shortened version of the exclamation, "Wow, loot!" But I like "Want one of those" better. I mean, yeah, both meanings make sense in every context I've ever heard ANY gamer or geek use it, but I just like thinking that it actually started as an acronym since the thought of a D&D nerd saying, "Woot!" just sounds a lot less clever.

Anyway, It's that time of year again, kids... It's Brewfest! This is by far my favorite world event and thanks to following RaidLeader on Twitter, I came across this useful guide to obtaining the Brewmaster Achievement. Just wanted to get you all in the spirit, so put on your [Brewfest Garb], grab some [Preserved Brewfest Hops], and put down your [Brewfest Pony Keg], this Brewfest will be the best one yet!

Other Stuff...

If you haven't visited my blog within the past month, you'll see some slight changes. Changing the Blogger layout to 3 columns instead of two was a huge win! Also, I've added Twitter updates to the sidebar... I know some people really don't give a shit about what I'm doing in my personal life but, well, this is MY blog, so you'll have to just deal with it. XP

In other news, I've been keeping in touch with Wailington of YouTube, a.k.a. Wail Fail, who asked me to collaborate with him on a WoW-parody song of his. Last I checked he's still working out some things as far as recording on his end. I'm excited to hear what he's got. I've just got to be patient =).

Something I'm really, really excited about is the fact that my order from BSW will be arriving next week on Monday! I decided that my "studio space" needed an upgrade so I ordered a pop filter (lol), a shock mount for my mic (lol again), and (drum roll please...) a Heil PL2T overhead broadcast microphone boom that I can mount to my desk like a snazzy radio talk show host. I only lol at the pop filter and shock mount because I really should've already owned these items since they're like basic necessities for ANY audio recording... but I never really had the drive to keep recording until I started this blog, so sexier recording setup, here I come!

Patch 3.2.0

SEASON 3, EPISODE 4

And a nice out-take reel...
<br/><a href="http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-US&vid=2408c4d7-0526-464d-bb55-aee3c0543077" target="_new" title="Season 3 - Gag Reel: Episodes 1-4">Video: Season 3 - Gag Reel: Episodes 1-4</a>

I'm not sure where this season is headed. I'm still watching the show, so that's a good sign but it seems to be getting a lot more personal and more into the individual characters' lives. I like a good drama now and again if it's written and acted out well, and I hope the fans that were drawn to The Guild simply because of the WoW factor are still watching too. Felicia Day is a very talented writer and actress and I am curious to see where this rival guild story will go, so I'll still keep watching for that. =)

Taking a li'l break...

Patch 3.2.0

Just logged in to do my Jewelcrafting and cooking dailies today. I may log in for a li'l bit to see what Pirate day is all about in Booty Bay tomorrow, but other than that, I might not be on that much this weekend just to take a breather and try to find something more "productive" to do with my time. I just don't want to feel like I've wasted my weekend. I may do the heroic daily tomorrow too cuz I'm just three heroic dailies away from getting new shoulders: [Epaulets of the Devourer]. But we'll see.

Friends

Patch 3.2.0

Welcome to New Moon and to Daggerspine, Helpful and Unrelated!

Another friend that Nuku and I know in real life transferred over to our server. He even did a faction change just before transferring because we all know we're gonna roll worgen when Cataclysm comes out.=) He brought one of his friends along with him too, so two new guildies for our tiny li'l guild. WoW or Hookah?

Patch 3.2.0

Tonight, I choose the hookah. Sorry, WoW. =p Kiwi-Strawberry's the flavor of the night. Hope you don't mind too much that this post is just barely WoW related in that I'm choosing NOT to play tonight. haha! I would smoke and play at the same time, but I end up getting to involved with the game that I end up letting the shisha burn. I just felt like takin' it easy and stepping away from the computer as much as I possibly could tonight. Obviously I'm failing since I'm here blogging... Inorite? I'm a baddie.

New Moon and New Members

Patch 3.2.0

I'm really tired so I'll try to make this brief. I got all the signatures I needed today to create a horde version of New Moon. And just like Isolté the troll shaman's name, so too does Néw Moon (horde) have an accent in it. =D So now I have Isolte of New Moon (Alliance) and Isolté of Néw Moon (Horde). I also made the tabard look exactly the same for both horde and alliance guilds. I made Nuku put on a guild tabard and go to the guild master to pretend to create a new crest so that I could see exactly what colors, border and icon I used. =p

Anyway, I met this cool chick named Veenis. She was the second to last signature I got on the guild charter. To celebrate, we hosted a naked dance party in Orgrimmar and hung out for hours. Eventually, she hopped on her main, Lucrene (Loo-kreen.. I even asked her how to pronounce it,) and we hopped on vent and hung out in game even longer. There was this guy, Frosters, hanging out with us in-game and even on vent, but he didn't have a mic.

Anyway, long story short: Lucrene is cool and I'd like to get to know her more in-game and out. She makes me wish I was leveled to 80 already so we can run heroics 'n shit together. Frosters.. well I'm still kinda figuring him out. Sometimes he was cool, but at other times he was kinda overly excited about things. Oh well. I'd group with him again anyway 'cause he's fun company.

EDIT: LOL I just realized, Frosters' profile currently shows him nekkid. Haha. We were so dancing nekkid in Orgrimmar for hours I swear. Good times.

Thoughts on Faction Changing

Patch 3.2.0

I came across a thread in the Daggerspine forums about faction switching and people who are planning on switching and I'm actually really glad Blizzard decided to make Faction changes available. The Horde/Alliance feud gets pretty frustrating when you meet someone irl who plays WoW ON YOUR SERVER (what are the odds of that?!) and then you find out that they play the opposite faction you do. LOL. Also, I saw a lot of Alliance posters in that thread that were switching to Horde that I'm almost positive NO ONE would miss. Hehe. Plus, for all those kids who want to be e-popular, this is a great way to go and annoy a new group of people with Trade-chat trolling and being bad in general on the other side.

So, yay for bad Alliance switching over to Horde, and yay for new baddies coming to join the Alliance. I guess I'm just really excited about seeing "new faces" so to speak. The game starts feeling kind of stale when you pretty much play with the same people day-in and day-out. It's kinda like this: although WoW is a massively multiplayer online game, you still run into the same 50 people. It was about time for a change even if it is small at first. I'm sure the closer we get to Cataclysm, the more switchers we'll see. And along with switchers will most likely come an excitement that the game so desperately needs in preparation for the next expansion.

Im not switching any of my toons over to horde because I really don't have a reason to. But I did create a new horde toon just to see what leveling is like with the prospect of running into (or getting ganked by) an Alliance I know and having the opportunity to hop on my main just to say, "Hi [Friend], plz don't kill me. k thx." XD

New Moon

Patch 3.2.0

When other players find out that I'm the Guild Master of my own guild, New Moon, the question inevitably comes up: What does it mean? So, when I say it's my favorite book series, a player will often assume they know what it is and say, "Lemme guess... You a Stephanie Meyer fan?" I get kind of upset just because Ms. Meyer's success makes it more time consuming for me to explain that my New Moon has nothing to do with vampires. =) But it also gives me a chance to tell others about Midori Snyder's New Moon.

The trilogy by Midori Snyder, as far as I know, goes by New Moon Trilogy, Queens' Quarter Trilogy, and/or Oran Trilogy. The three books in order are New Moon, Sadar's Keep, and Beldan's Fire. These have been my "favorite book" since I was in the eighth grade. (I'm 24 years old now and I still love to re-read it.) If you are a fan of fantasy stories about elemental magick, rebel armies with a good cause, love and loss, these books are a must read. If you love to read and even if you don't like to read, like me, I have a feeling you'd still get hooked too.

New Moon is not just the title of the first book, but it's the name of the rebel group of the Queens' Quarter story. It is my somewhat secret hope that my guild members can display the same sort of courage and passion that Snyder's New Moon displays all throughout the story. Buuut... since I'm not playing on an RP server, I kinda keep that hope to myself so that I don't get flamed by all the PvPers and non-roleplayers. LOL. XD

And there you have it: why New Moon is called New Moon.

Come to the dark side.. we have cookies!

Patch 3.2.0

So, I went and did it. I rolled a li'l hordie last night. A Troll Shaman appropriately named Isolté (complete with accented character in the name denoting the fact that the original name is taken =) lol.) I got her to level 9 just doing quests and I met some fun people. First person I sent a tell to, since I'm a stalker and he was online, was Dèèps, the undead warrior I was playing around with in the Underbelly while I was on my Alliance shaman. We drank [Underbelly Elixers], dueled as bugs, and emoted the time away. It was fun until I had to leave abruptly. It was at that moment when I had to leave that I decided, my lvl 22 warrior has got to go so I can have at least one horde character on this server!

Anyway, I had so much fun that I stayed up WAY too late, (another all-nighter) and I ran into Thescandall again =) except I messaged him on Isolté rather than his alliance toon messaging my main. Something funny that I did tonight that I wouldn't even dream of doing in Alliance trade chat was: I asked for bags. lol. I got maybe 4 people saying, "OMG gimme free lootz QQ, go level, go quest" etc.. but there were more than a few people who whispered me directly asking "where you at, I'll give you one". I WAS SHOCKED AND AMAZED! Thanks to you, female troll shaman who kept DCing while trying to trade me bags (I can't remember your name for the life of me) and I owe you! And thanks Gunmang for the uber [Netherweave Bag]x4 AND the run through RFC. It was the best 7 minutes of my Shaman's life to date.

Personal Drama Lulz... Read at your own risk!!!

Patch 3.2.0

Tradechat-Troll of Daggerspine, Luzzy, decided to target li'l ol' me yesterday in his tradechat rants. Lol. At first, of course, I was shocked and defensive and I sent Troll some ranting tells to cut it out. (I was mostly upset that he was pretty much fake to me before and proved yesterday that all he ever looks for is people to make fun of in trade.) What he said, no rather spammed about me in trade was true, the fact that I consider myself a furry, but the implications of what he said are definitely NOT.

Oh well. People who want to know more about me will find that out anyway, since my music for download is hosted on my Business website, blackbackstudio.com. I'm just annoyed at the fact that immature, uninformed kids will come to the conclusion that I am a stereotypical "furry", you know, the ones that you see on CSI or MTV's Sex2k episode. But I guess, it comes with the territory of trying to get my name out there for people to listen to my music.... and it's good for business, since obviously, people are checking out BlackBackStudio.com. =)

And, just for the record, since uninformed losers may even read my blog: I don't have sex with my dog or any animals for that matter, I don't have sex in animal costumes, and I don't enjoy watching animals have sex.. And even if I DID any of that nasty, illegal shit, why is it anyone else's business but my own? Oh yeah, I know why: because I'm becoming more popular than the Trolls and they're getting jealous XD. Anyway, I consider myself a furry because I like anthropomorphic art and literature (think egyptian gods and goddesses). Plus I build mascot costumes, perform in costume at children's events for community service, and I'd like to be just one more person who calls herself a furry who can change what some people THINK furries are. It's just up to you to accept that some furries are normal just like you.

Yay!

Patch 3.2.0

Welcome Darksparkles and welcome back Mango to Daggerspine XD.

I'm so excited that you guys are now playing on our server! Don't laugh, but I swear, it was so depressing to never be able to have a beer with guildies since normally we all aren't local, but now I can has a beer and talk about WoW with you and not feel like it's lame. hehe. XD

Fail PUG is... NOT fail?! XD

Patch 3.2.0

I pugged a few heroics last night and by a few I literally mean three. Normally, this would be somewhat disappointing, but last night's group was so full of win that I had to stick around. (And I honestly mean that I liked the group. No sarcasm here. Just wanted to be clear on that.) XD.. So, "LF2M dps H UK and UP" was the start of my fun, five-hour long journey with this pug when it caught my eye in trade chat since the daily dungeon quests I still had in my log from a few days ago were UK and UP. What was also nice was that we had enough dps and good gear that we'd definitely finish the instances before they reset in a little under an hour and a half from when we grouped up. =) Or, at least that was the plan...

The group consisted of: Paladin (tank), Priest (heals), Rogue, Hunter, and Shaman (me). This group was good, I mean the "finish-UK-in-20-minutes" good. We did UK first with no snags whatsoever. Next was UP, and here's where the real fun began. I decided to mention the achievements for it, and a couple ppl hadn't gotten them yet and everyone agreed to give them a go. ([The Incredible Hulk], [My Girl Loves to Skadi All the Time], [Lodi Dodi We Loves the Skadi]).

For the abomination achieve, we got the abom to about 10%. The tank starts situating the abom better onto the platform under Svala's Sword when all of a sudden, he runs off the platform with the abom following and he just stops moving. The abom misses the sword's damage and we end up killing the boss and abom as we realize the tank has been disconnected from the server. Oh well. People weren't too bummed about the achive since we were all just there for badges anyway. Tank reconnects and we resume the clear.

As we get to Skadi, I asked if ppl have vent just to make calling out harpoon duty easier for the one-pass downing of Grauf, and the healer offers up his vent info when I was poised and ready to click on my vent-info macro =). I logged into his vent where I see a user by the name "Blinded" in the lobby times four(!!), one more "Blinded" in the "Group 1" channel, user "holla"x3 and one other person in "Group 1", and server ping bouncing between 50 and 200. I kinda just write it off, and I notice I can't hear anyone, nor does my vent key work, so I go into the Setup and see that they aren't using the "Speex" codec on his server. So after a few minutes of party chatting about how I'm on a mac and won't be able to hear or say anything unless they come to my server, Holla, the vent owner, changes the codec to Speex and all is well. I explained the strat of how I've done the achievement with at least 5 other groups before, and they all agree that it's the way we'll run it. (Two people farm harpoons for [My Girl Loves to Skadi All the Time] (we designated myself and Hollaholla for "poon-farming" *giggles like a 13-yr old boy*), and run back out to reset the boss so we have a chance at [Lodi Dodi We Loves the Skadi].

[Insert a shit-ton of more DC fun here]. The tank, Mutung, disconnects again during the fight and THEN the healer does too! We wipe, but I self res and we start the event over again. We try again, and Hollaholla DC's yet again, so we run out and reset. He comes back and coincidentally, Mutung DC's again. Try this about 3 more times and by this time, I'm actually laughing, Holla and I are pretty much the only two who are amused by this on vent, the rogue gets sick of it, and without saying anything more than, "sry guys gtg," he hearths out and drops group. We find a replacement dps, a boomkin from the priest's guild. We wipe a couple times more as the heals DC again, and Blindedsoul offers to heal since she won't DC lol. More DC fun with the tank and now-shadow priest, and eventually, we get enough online time together for me to call out when we harpoon him, we get him down in one pass, and miraculously survive the fight even after the healer dies from a whirlwind. ... ...

So, Skadi dies, and NO ONE gets the achievement!

*Sigh* So, Holla and I were designated harpooners, but I'm guessing that the hunter picked up a harpoon or two and used the harpoon guns before we called it out. He was DPSing the boss from next to a harpoon gun and he was the only one ever near the harpoons other than the moment Holla and I agreed to use them. Hunter was on vent, but maybe he missed the moment I said, "I'll call out the pass for pooning." XD Oh well, no one is too bent out of shape from missing the achievement, and we try to go on while Priest and Tank keep DCing alternately.

By this time, it is 8:50am server-time. The instances are gonna reset at 9, and Mutung DCs in the room just before UP's end-boss. So we all decide to just call it, and run out so we don't get saved to UP for the next day when it resets. Hunter hearths/drops group without saying a word to anyone. And we (Boomkin, me, S-Priest and Pally) duel each other outside UP while Boomkin and Priest find someone from their guild to join us for H ToC.

We find someone, I use my awesome [Argent Crusader's Tabard] and Holla and I start summoning. The interesting fun in ToC though, was when two people started the jousting event while me and Blindedsoul were still summoning the new party member. We run in and they're already jousting the trash. The fifth party member, after only jousting for a one round all of a sudden has to leave, or never had time to do ToC in the first place, and we spend some more time looking for a fifth. We find a replacement, summon him, he acknowledges the summon in party chat, but didn't accept it in time, so the four of us were already jousting and decided to just down the bosses and summon again when we inevitably run out to reset after the joust event. *Sigh* =D We die one by one but run in from the graveyard fast enough to keep the event from reseting. And then the event bugs, though it was a different bug from what I'm used to seeing. The bug I'm used to is when we down two bosses from their mounts, and the third just never dismounts. But the bug we were experiencing was: all three bosses got downed, but we never popped off of our own mounts! So we just did the usual, run out and reset it, and all is well again.

We get through it pretty smoothly after the jousting event, and I decided to call it a night... or DAY rather since it was about 10am by the time we finished H ToC. XD All in all, I had a blast because the people were fun, easy to shoot shit with in vent during the "downtime", and I felt like I at least helped them by staying with them since they told me that other dps'ers just kept dropping group out of sheer frustration about the constant disconnecting! Haha.

Wow, thanks for reading all that if you made it this far in my post. I hope it was at least as interesting to read as it was for me to experience! XD

Ninja Raiders

Patch 3.2.0

Finished recording my version of "Ninja Raiders". Thanks to Ryan, a.k.a. Roninhobbit on YouTube for allowing me to cover his WoW parody cover of Beyonce's "Single Ladies". He wrote all the lyrics, I just covered it. I figured, why write a new WoW parody to a song I was going to write one for when a parody of it already exists? So, I asked Ryan if I could cover his lyrics, and he said yes! XD

I don't want to just throw it up on youtube without a video, and I may not even make a video for this one since Ryan already has one with his original cover. I'm a li'l nervous about this one too, since I don't have any affects on the main vocal. So it's a lot more raw-sounding than "Shut Up and Grind." But it's online so if you wanna listen, here it is:

http://www.blackbackstudio.com/1so1te/audio/Ninja_Raiders.mp3.

I ain't no Beyoncé, so don't hate on me too much. lol.

The Power of WoW

Patch 3.2.0

I've been spending most of my free time in-game, so I decided that today I'd get back to recording another cover-song. I was already about 50% of the way through recording all the vocals when my video card decided to give out, so here's hoping that my vocals won't sound too different today, than they did a few weeks ago. XD I'm really excited about this one too. I sometimes can't believe that WoW has the ability to keep me from doing other fun things that I love to do... hehe. On that note: here's a video!

BlizzCon Excitement and WoWAion?

Patch 3.2.0

Decided not to subscribe to the BlizzCast Live stream since so much life stuff was gonna prevent me from watching it anyway. Also, the stream schedule for Day 2 (Today) looks like only one WoW related item will be shown. =/ Mostly Starcraft and Diablo stuff for the rest of the day.

Stream Schedule - Day 2
11:00am PST - Welcome to Day 2
11:30am PST - Diablo III Open Q&A Panel
1:00pm PST - WoW Dungeons & Raids Panel <==WTF?!
2:30pm PST - StarCraft II Lore Panel
4:00pm PST - StarCraft II Gameplay Panel
6:30pm PST - Closing Ceremony

Although [Grunty] would have been a nice addition to the pet collection, he's not worth my feeling like I wasted money on something I won't even be able to watch. But of what I've read from various fansites like MMO-Champion and IGN, Cataclysm sounds like just what the doctor ordered for experienced WoWers and new WoWers alike.

On a side note, I got a li'l distracted by an Aion ad on WoWhead's site.. Geez, if I have a computer that could play that, I'd definitely at least check it out. That game looks GORGEOUS. The lore is a bit uhm... familiar LOL. Lots of things very easily relatable to the basic WoW lore, like the Maelstrom/Chaos Abyss, the World Tree/Tower of Eternity, Factions (Horde/Asmodian, Alliance/Elyos), The Legion/The Balaur... Even the gameplay and UI look very similar to WoW. Here's a video I found of some gameplay, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8mqJPYgWNo&feature=fvw

I am in no way saying that you should drop WoW for Aion, but if you're a graphics junkie, I can see why you'd switch =p. I rather enjoy the comfort and stability the World of Warcraft has to offer. XD

Forbidden Love?

Patch 3.2.0

Hehe, I can't help but feel like I'm doing something really wrong in-game when I'm actually having a conversation through emotes with a Horde character. XD Made a friend the other night with an Orc Shaman named Thescandall and he hopped on an alliance toon of his and we chatted for a bit. It's fun now that there's no faction restrictions on ANY realm, cuz you don't have to resort to going to the forums to shoot shit with the hordies. Makes the game a lot more interesting when communication is limited between two players that actually get along with each other and can communicate irl. XD Just played hide and seek with him in the Horde inn in Dalaran before I logged. Felt like a teenage summer fling for a second, but very Romeo and Juliet-like. Hehe. I think it'd be great to be on an RP realm... but then I wouldn't be able to kill the hordies that steal my [Titanium Ore]... hmm.

Cleared Naxx10 Today

Patch 3.2.0

Ran a Naxx 10 for the first time today with the new guild and a couple pugs. We cleared it pretty smoothly in about 4 hours. I was actually very pleasantly surprised. EoE10 tomorrow if nothing comes up. My sister is in the hospital already. (My new nephew is due in about a week, so maybe he'll be here a bit early.) =)

Actually something random I realized. With all the new gear I got, Isolte's starting to look very different. It's actually kinda weird because I've been in that old stuff for so long, I just got used to the way she looked. There was a part of me that almost wanted to keep her old gear just to do dailies in for the familiarity. Bleh, I'm just rambling right now because I can't go to sleep. *sigh*

Upgradez and New Guild

Patch 3.2.0

Got some new gear:
[Leggings of the Tireless Sentry]
[Conqueror's Worldbreaker Chestguard]
[Scale Boots of the Outlander](ToC drop)
[Uruka's Band of Zeal](ToC drop)

Been running a lot more heroics than I though I would be. Joined a new guild (Driven) that's starting back up again from falling apart not too long ago. I'm kinda iffy on how much I'll like this. I joined with the hopes of finally being in a raiding guild with mature players since the GM is really picky about who he invites to the guild, but I'm afraid we won't be raiding anytime soon as a result... there's only like 5 active players in the guild currently... Driven used to be in the top 3 rading guilds on our server when WotLK came out, and that's another thing I'm nervous about. Usually, in my experience, it is that mindset (of being a top rading guild) that attracts the assholes and wannabes. All I really want is to be in a guild with reliable, respectable players , even if that means we only do 10-mans. Heck, I don't even care if we do 10-mans, we can do 5's.. I'm happy with the gear I have currently because I can do my dailies with ease. So, really, I'm just hoping the guild turns out to be a good group of PEOPLE. =/

WTB Ventrilo Host

Patch 3.2.0

Nuku's cousin rents a vent server for his guild, Massacre , but it just doesn't feel right using it when Nuku and I are pugging with people who are not in . Technically, we aren't in Massacre either (or anymore rather), so we're looking into finding a good host for our li'l guild, New Moon. My intention for New Moon at the start was to create a guild that was as casual and [keyword!!] comfortable for all members. But I haven't done any recruiting since we basically use the bank for ourselves and a couple of friends. XD

I'm not sure we'll start raiding hardcore ever and even if we don't, it'd still be nice to have our own vent, cuz the in-game voice stuff is still kinda cruddy. So, if you can recommend a good quality Vent host, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

In Game. BRB.

Patch 3.2.0

Ever since I got my computer back, I've been playing too much to get anything else done, lol.

Got my computer back!

Patch 3.2

WOOT! Got a call from the fruit store today and I got me lappy back! Copied WoW back onto my new hard drive and I'm ready to rip! Actually, I was thinking about installing the rest of my important apps, but that can wait til tomorrow =). And as Blackheart the Inciter would say, "Time for fun!"

Random musings of a Shaman with no computer atm... and PvP WTF?

Patch 3.2.0

With the release of patch 3.2, Call of the Crusade, a couple days ago, there have been so many awesome new things that I haven't been able to check out yet!! (Patch Notes here...) AAaaaAAAAaahh, it's killing me that my computer is still out for repair. I did hop on my husband's computer though to turn in my [Valiant Seals] for my last Champion faction in the Argent Tournament on Monday night. (I was really only saving them so that I could keep doing the Valiant dailies along with the Champion dailies since a few of them were like hitting two birds with one stone.) I've been trying my best not to play on his computer throughout the day while he's at work though so that I take a proper break, albeit forced, from my own computer.

But one thing I'm dying to check out, and most likely will as soon as I post this blog *maniacally grins*, is the new totem bars for Isolte. Before there was even a rumor that Blizzard would make one-button totem casting, I organized my action bars so that my totems were in groups. I even bound my arrow keys (and Shift+arrow keys) to each totem element, so I'll definitely be changing that back to the default directional movement lol. It was always funny to have my husband check Isolte's mail in-game and hear him plop down a [Magma Totem] when he's just turning to the left while standing at the mailbox. XD

And ok, this was news to me: PvP servers now capable of creating characters of OPPOSING faction?! I don't know how I missed this, but when I went over to mmo-champion.com this morning, right there, second post from the top (at the moment) in loverly Blizzard Blue:
By Eyonix (Source)
As we've already discussed, we’re in the process of developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance. To prepare for this new service, we've removed the restriction that prevents players from creating both Horde and Alliance characters on a PvP realm. For more information on our Faction Change service, please visit the following link.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=18031079410&sid=1

.. OMG WTF BBQ BIKE!? I foresee drama and much QQ as a result, but I can see some of the benefits. I mean, my server according to some census I found a few weeks ago (don't hate me cuz I can't remember the website, but) it said that there exists 3 horde toons per 1 alliance (And that's not accounts, that included alts I'm sure). But, I can see the faction populations evening out perhaps? Eh, I don't know. There was a part of me a LOOONG time ago wishing that I rolled horde, but that was when I was hardly ever even playing the game, BGs for my battlegroup sucked ass because they were so lopsided, and everyone I knew irl that played was horde.. Meh... I take great pride in having been "raised" on a PvP server, so to speak, for the exact reason of choosing a faction and sticking with it. But with the new PvP restrictions lifted, it kinda rains on the parade a little. I mean, I'm no Alliance freak: I've tested out some horde toons on other servers, but on my home server, Daggerspine, I will always be Alliance.

I'm looking forward to seeing the replies to that Blizzard post because so far they are pretty black and white. XD

My laptop is in the hospital.

Patch 3.1.3

I got my new hard drive, put it in, and now my video is gone. Took it in for repair and the tech assured me I did the install correctly and it was just "it's time" (that the video would go.) Since it is an Apple computer, I can't fix it myself. *cries* So, I'll have my computer back in a couple weeks. *sigh* And I was right in the middle of recording a new song too. Oh well, at least there's slightly good news: the motherboard is getting replaced and since they're shipping it out for repair, it'll only cost me $300 as opposed to $1500. =/ Yay.

Doesn't mean I can't hijack my hubster's laptop to play WoW on while mine is in repair. =) I just won't be recording any new music. But this will also give me time to write more stuff too, so I'll definitely take advantage of my computer-less time.

Recording a new song...

Patch 3.1.3

... well new for me, but not new for YouTube's Roninhobbit. I started working on lyrics for a new cover song, which shall not be named as of yet, and I started thinking that it's probably popular enough for someone else to have already done a parody on it. So, I Googled it, and that's how I found Ryan's version. I loved his lyrics so much that I asked him if it was ok for me to cover his cover! I was excited to get the ok, and I started recording this afternoon. Huge thanks to Ryan for allowing me to sing his song! All lyrics were written by him so give him all the praise and credit for that! I can't wait 'til it's finished! *is excited*

Since I'm new to the youtube vid scene, would this be considered a collaboration since I'm singing someone else's lyrics? Or would this be a cover of a cover? hehe.

Upgradez

Patch 3.1.3

Although the experiment with Parallels, Windows, and WoWModelViewer worked, it just barely worked to my liking. After all was said and done, all of those applications plus a duplicate install of WoW to run WMV with took up 37GB on my hard drive. =/ I have a 120GB HD in my computer atm, but I'm a web/print designer and that space gets taken up pretty fast with design apps and my works in progress.

So, in an attempt to clean up my HD, I backed it up and reformatted. I like starting over with a clean system every once in a while cuz it makes my computer feel brand new =). And although I have roughly 67GB available after all my basic apps have been reinstalled (and keeping my 25GB music library on an external drive,) installing Parallels, Windows and a duplicate install of WoW would leave me with 30GB of play room. That may be enough for some people, but I really don't want to constantly worry about how much space I have left if I'm gonna be editing video.

Long story short: I bought a 500GB HD yesterday and I can't wait till it comes in! I guess I see it like this: I'm paving the way for creativity to flow and not get choked up if I hit a roadblock. I really should have done this a looong time ago. I owe a huge thanks to Nukufox's cousin, Hupajupe, for the bright idea of simply upgrading my hard drive. XD

WoW Model Viewer

Patch 3.1.3

...or or Patch 2.4.3, rather. lol. So I got WoW Model Viewer working (version 0.5.09d with WoW v2.4.3.8606) and I couldn't be more pleased with its performance. The only downside is that I've got no access to WotLK content. I may even change Isolte's hairstyle in game BACK to what it used to be for the sake of keeping up appearances.. or not, and she can just look baller in her videos with two different hairstyles lol.

Reinstalling WoW

Patch 3.1.3

I was getting a little discouraged earlier today when I opened up WoW Model Viewer to find that it's buggy as hell. I figured I might get it to work if I just install an older version of WMV, and I was right with a slight catch. I have to downgrade WMV and World of Warcraft so that WMV works properly, per this article. I guess I needed to have two versions of WoW on my computer regardless of what OS I'm running, hah.

I'm installing TBC on the Windows partition atm and I'm only going to upgrade it to 2.4.3. So, I'll let you know how it works out if/when it's all done. Wish me luck!

Machinima. Do Want!

Patch 3.1.3

By the end of today, my goal is to at least have all the programs installed and ready to use for making a WoW machinima. I've never made one before, and I have little to no experience editing video, so I don't expect to create anything amazing even if I do get all the necessary tools up and running.

So, I installed Parallels 4.0 yesterday (yes, I have a Mac), installed Windows XP, and overnight I finished installing and patching World of Warcraft on the Windows "hard drive". And all this precious HD space used just to be able to use WoW Model Viewer... *sigh*. Still have yet to download the Model Viewer, and then the daunting task of getting to know the video editing programs... This should be fun. XD

Shut Up and Grind on Youtube

Patch 3.1.3

Actually when I think about, it took two days of writing and recording to get to this point. I just started it Monday last week and finished it today. Anyway, hope you like it.. even if you're not a Rihanna fan. *crosses fingers*

WoW Cover Song

Patch 3.1.3

So I just finished recording and mastering a WoW cover song I started writing and recording last week. XD I'm wondering if I should just share it as an MP3 or look for some talented Machinima creator to do a music video for it. I'd love to do the latter since I haven't had pretty much ANY experience in Machinima... yet. But I'm so excited about the song that I want to get it out there.. hmm, what to do, what to do?

The Insane: Progress

Patch 3.1.3

Nuku and I spent most of yesterday and all night grinding Southsea Pirates in Tanaris to get our Steamwheedle Cartel reputation up. I'm 1967/6000 Friendly with Gadgetzan, so at least I'm at the point where I can use that flight point to get to Dire Maul easier, making the Shen'dralar rep grind a LOT easier.

Also, I'm now 599/21000 Revered with Ravenholdt, so I've got 1380 more [Heavy Junkboxes] to farm...lol. The grind to Revered was actually not that bad. I didn't exactly time how much rep I gained per hour, but I can definitely say that it took less than 6 hours of straight grinding Syndicate mobs in Alterac Mountains to get from Neutral to 11999/12000 Honored. I found that farming mobs in Strahnbrad, pathing north to Dandred's Fold in Alterac Mountains (making sure to stop at the four camps along the way) was a way better place to grind mobs than in Stromgarde Keep in Arathi Highlands. A couple of guides I've seen on getting "The Insane" Achievement have recommended Stromgarde, but I beg to differ.

Funny thing too about those guides, they never said anything about how you'll have to keep deleting the [Dusksteel Throwing Knives] that you get as a reward to the repeatable turn-in quest for the [Heavy Junkboxes]. The item is "Unique", so you cant turn in another 5 junkboxes until its gone from your inventory =). lol. It's not a big deal, it's just one more tiny step in the insane grind to make you go insane.

Holy Titanium, Batman!

Patch 3.1.3

I met some guy in Stormwind who seemed to be really interested in my stuff, like my pets, titles, mount, etc.. and he randomly gave me 50g just for showing him where I got the [Ghostly Skull]. During our conversation, I found out that he supposedly makes 2000g per day! I asked him how, and he simply said, "[Mining]". I was very happy to hear this since I'm a miner.

So, I had two stacks of [Titanium Ore] in my bank and [Titansteel Bar] x17. I went to the AH to see how much they were going for and I was shocked. I put up individual stacks of [Titanium Ore]x5 for a buyout of 49g EACH. And that was undercutting the cheapest auction. But the [Titansteel Bar]x1 were going for 95g apiece! Since I don't have a use for the bars, I put up all 17 of them. Three of them were sold within two minutes of me putting them up on the AH. I'm excited to see how much money will be in my mailbox when I log back in later =).

Also, with the rep grind for Ravenholdt underway, I've been getting tons of silk. [Silk Cloth] x20 is going for 1g, which is still better than vendoring it for only 30s.

Ravenholdt

Patch 3.1.3

Starting my grind to Revered after I click "Publish Post". (My sweet hubster, Nukufox, is gonna pickpocket the [Heavy Junkboxes] I'll need to get from Revered to Exalted.)

The Girls Have Never Felt Prettier

Patch 3.1.3

I ran around Azeroth yesterday to take screenshots for material to potentially use for this blog. I started workin' on a graphic banner for a new header and realized I didn't have any photos of my girls! The quickie "photoshoot" was fun, full of emotes, and I really think my banner turned out better than I even thought it would.. I mean.. I'm a Graphic Designer irl, and I'm never pleased with my sh*t, so this was a nice surprise =). Anyway, here they are, in order from left to right: Isolte, Emberlock, Embervenin, (and in the background:) Viera, and Yzolta.

3.2 PTR gettin' my hopes up...

Patch 3.1.3

... and shooting them down. So, one of the things I was insanely excited to hear about through word of mouth [.. or type in-game lol?] is that the [Headless Horseman's Mount] ([Headless Horseman's Reins]) is going to be instant cast next patch like druids' flight form. I started thinking that it was too good to be true, so I started poking around myself.

This is what I found: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=18031189732&pageNo=1&sid=1#6. Doesn't look like it's gonna happen. That's fine, cuz I totally agree that it would be overpowered for ANYone with that mount to just mount up and fly away in a flash. Any night elf (not just druids) with the mount (without any kind of dot on them, of course) would be able to just [Shadowmeld]>[Headless Horseman's Mount]>Fly away>Lol at Horde. Glad that it won't go live even though it'd be nice since I got lucky enough to get one myself. I still thoroughly appreciate the fact that it only takes up one slot on my action bar rather than two (one for ground mount, one for flying mount).

And on that note... *Heads over to the WoW suggestions forums to put in my vote for nerfing Druids' insta-flight form.*

Talent Adjustments

Patch 3.1.3

Looking over my Enhancement spec today, I decided to move some talent points around. =p

Enhancement:

I don't use [Lightning Shield] as much as I probably should, so the one point I previously had in [Improved Shields] was pretty pointless, lol. I only put it there so I could go to the next tier. So, that's 1 point I could put somewhere else.

I tried out [Frozen Power] since it was a new 3.1 talent... I thoroughly enjoyed the ability to ice lock, but I never use [Frostbrand Weapon], so I was missing out on the extra damage bonus. If I PvP'ed more often, this talent would be a keeper. But in light of the fact that I'm going to be PvE'ing for a while to come, here's 2 more talent points that I can put somewhere else.

I really enjoyed having instant cast [Ghost Wolf], so I spec'ed back into [Improved Ghost Wolf]. With one point left to put wherever, it made sense to just complete 3/3 in [Mental Quickness].

Elemental:

With only 20 talents to spare I've always had them in the Elemental tree. The mana reduction (although teeny tiny) and spell damage bonus talents are actually very useful. =) The only changes I made to my old build were basically moving the two points I had in [Call of Flame] to [Convection], and taking one point out of [Reverberation] for the more insanely useful [Elemental Focus]. I'm excited to see how this works out. =)

Going Insane

Patch 3.1.3

I've decided that I am going spend most of my time grinding for the achievement, Insane in the Membrane. Since I haven't been raiding and running heroics (and don't really plan to 'til 3.2), I figure: what better way to spend my hours in WoW than grinding "pointless" rep. I believe this is the coolest title in the entire game. "Isolte the Insane" ... I can see it now.

This will probably take me months, but I'm a huge fan of in-game goals like this. I've already got to Honored with Bloodsail Buccaneers and I'm halfway through Hated with Booty Bay since I was testing the different methods of grinding goblin rep. So, why not go all the way?

Wish me luck and pray that my sanity won't be affected in the slightest by the insane grind to come!

My New Mount

Patch 3.1.3

Hah. I can't believe I didn't include this in the first post I made today lol. I've got a lot to talk about today apparently. I've done enough Champion dailies for the Argent Tournament to get my [Argent Hippogryph] today! I probably wont use it that much since I already have [The Horseman's Reins], but I love the hippogryph models so I had to get this one. I also have the [Cenarion War Hippogryph] and I'm hoping that they release a hippogryph mount with exalted Silver Covenant reputation, cause those Silver Covenant Hippogryphs look amazing!

WotLK and Patch Labels

Patch 3.1.3

So, I went back and edited all my previous posts to add the current game patch versions. I really like how Wowhead automatically adds the patch version in the title bar of comments so that you get a better idea of what was going on in the game at the time the user posted. So, I took the cue from them to do the same for my blog posts. At least now you'll have a good time reference for my posts without having to look it up by date in the official WoW Patch Notes. And I'll be doing this for all future posts from now on. =)

And about WotLK... I can't believe I didn't make a blog post about waiting in line for Wrath!!! So, Wrath of the Lich King, as you all know, released on Thursday, November 13, 2008. Our local electronics store was having an "Early Release" event at 10:30pm, 11/12/2008, so, Nuku and I got in line early. I can't remember how early, I think it was like 5pm or so, and I thought we were doomed to miss out on a collector's edition! The line was wrapped around the building when we got there. But as the hours went by, the line grew twice as long and we were pretty much in the middle. Since we had to be there for hours, we brought our doggie, Bandit, and I walked him a couple times up and down the line. You can imagine all the, "Oh look, that hunter brought her pet," comments I got. Lol. Welp, long story short, we met some cool people [not a one on the same server as anyone else roflmao, go figure,] we got in the doors half past midnight, and were out on our way home by about 1:15am with one Collector's Edition & one regular version. (I took Bandit with us in line as close to the store as I possible could so he wouldn't have to wait in the car too long. He was only in there for maybe 30 minutes tops. =D)

So yeah, there's my WotLK release story. Haha.

Roleplaying & Spirit Beast: Ghost Wolf

Patch 3.1.3

I was doing a little research on the Ancient Grimtotem Spirit Guide because I was one of those hunters who missed out on taming this amazing creature and wanted to see if it may be tamable again. Since Blizzard has introduced Spirit Beasts like Gondria and Loque’nahak in patch 3.1 for hunters to tame with the 51 point talent, [Beast Mastery], I thought maybe the Ghost wolf would be tamable again. But I was wrong. Maybe someday they'll add a new rare spawn in Northrend that looks like the Ghost Wolves.. who knows.

Anyway, in my research I came across so many threads, posts, and blogs about what a tragedy it was that Blizzard removed the ability to tame this beautiful animal [especially after a Blizzard "blue post" stated, "... it will still be possible in future for everyone who wishes to tame this NPC to do so. :)" -- Issuntril, on the European In-Game Customer Support forum] and I found the following response. I myself, residing on a PvP server, thought very little about the impact it would have on players other than the rare look of the beast, but after I read this blog post, I was deeply saddened that Blizzard had gone back on their word about being able to tame the Ghost Wolf.

Tomas "TomWolf" Forsman - January 16th, 2008 @ 1:51 am EST

When I first read about the hunter pet I was sure it was going to get janked. Then, to my own and others disbelief and utter happyness, I read that it was here to stay!

I play on Sporeggar, a pvp-rp server, and I have a very vivid character story wich is known to my entire guild and to other players as well. At level 45 my story started evolving around a new goal, to get the ghost wolf. I just recently payed overprice for the mystical nightfire diamond to prepare myself for when I get to lvl 66 and go hunting for the mystical pet.

Needless to say this pet is a big deal for me and my main character. I’ve involved a shaman player and a priest player in the storyline and we all have been roleplaying around it.

And now I read something that made me shout out bad words that I won’t repeat here…my stomache actually hurt. May sound stupid since this is only a game but it’s not…I enjoy roleplaying, I enjoy the creativity of making the story happen…and now? They lied to us. They just took away a great number of hours I’ve spent on this storyline and the goal that has been driven me. Basicly they made my main character feel joyless for me. I don’t even want to log in to that character right now.

I can only hope that blizzard reads the response on all the forums about this and realise that for once there isn’t a discussion on the topic…everyone is agreeing that this is a bad move and that they are acting like %@@*@#!s on this topic. I don’t mean no disrespect and I’m really trying hard not to use bad language right now because words I don’t want to use are exploding like fireworks in my head right now.

The thing is, I don’t powerlevel since that would go against my storyline. I level in a steady pace and didn’t want to get the wolf as soon as I could but rather get it after a long roleplayed struggle.

They say that it goes against the hunter lore but that’s not true if you think about it. In my story I use a priest and shaman to tame this beast spirit. Only with my hunters knowledge of beast nature, the shamans knowledge of nature spirit and the priests reach into the spirit world could we manage to tame this force.

So it’s not only because I want a cool pet, it destroyed my entire story.

It’s like reading the LoTR if Sauron died and the ring turned into a normal ring in the second book. Frodo would become kind of pointless…so does my character feel for me right now.

I never even once thought of how negatively hotfixes can affect a player's roleplaying experience until I read that post. I don't roleplay often but I'd like to RP more, and this post gave me a little insight on what to watch out for if/when I do RP. But still... Grats to those hunters who do have the Ghost Wolf pet because you've earned it! And to those hunters still wishing... Go camp Gondria. Lol.

And if you are a hunter and don't know about Petopia (www.wow-petopia.com), go there NAO!
